Found: Long Lost Artowrk Discovered in Closet Excavation

The year is 2004. Upstairs in her childhood bedroom, a redheaded woman sorts through piles of papers while her mother holds a trash bag open with both hands wrapped under the plastic edges. "Remeber that?" she asks as she briefly holds up a yellowed newspaper baring the headline "ROCKETS WIN!" Abruptly, it falls from her hand into the trash bag. "Why didn't we do this sooner?" she muses to herself, "I haven't lived here in twelve years."

Reaching over boxes of blue-lined papers and shredded posterboard, she breathes in a heady breath and recoils slightly from the overpowering scent of mildew. Suddenly, she spots a piece of paper different than the rest. This one, a diamond in a field of wheat, was not yellowed with the signs of age.

She looks at it briefly and smiles at the incredible find, then lets it flutter down to rest on the top of a pile named "keep."

It was the long lost child of a project long, long ago.

The bastard cousin that was never allowed to see the light of day.

The well-conceived but ill-advised.
